Why is this a significant news for Mac users?
Because on top of the standard support for VoIP capability of Skype, it also supports Video chats. Yes, you didn’t hear me wrong, video chats! All you need is a webcam while using Skype 2.0 and you’re ready to go.
Fortunately for those MacBook and MacBook Pro users, you guys already have an in-built iSight webcam. How I envy you people as an iBook user. =P

Someone created a smcFanControl to aid cooling his MBP by turning the fans to max speeds. Turns out that his MBP is always cool at 43 degrees celcius. smcFanControl is currenlty at version 1.1 and supports the MacBook, MacBook Pro and Mac Mini.
LOLz, I wonder who puts the Mac Mini on the lap? =P

If, like me, you have too many books, CDs and DVDs to keep track of, you will adore Delicious Library, the bibliophile’s Mac dream come true.
It works even without a webcam, or iSight camera – just type in the book’s ISBN number into the required field when connected to the Internet, and everything should go swimmingly from there. Take note, though, that Delicious Library is shareware.
For those interested, they’ve also won design awards at WWDC 2005. One of Delicious’ developers, Mike Matas, was recently offered a job at Apple. Visit his blog to ogle the ridiculously cool life this 19-year-old is leading right now.
(Credit for this post goes in part to Jun, who recommended Delicious when I was scouting for an app to catalogue my 254-and-counting books.)

I came across this free RSS reader on FreeMacWare.com a few days ago, and I must say it is pretty impressive! The interface is very similar to NetNewsWire Lite, so if you already use NNWL, the learning curve’s not too steep. However, you get several features like Smart Folders, as well as the ability to “flag” items (for later viewing), which you can only find in the “pay” version of NNW. It also supports password-protected RSS feeds (such as LJ blogs). Check it out and give it a try!

P.S. If you are more adventurous, you can try the latest (unreleased) build which includes, among other things, a built-in web browser…
